America acknowledges its failure to equip and train Iraqi forces

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – US efforts to rebuild ground forces in Iraq have failed to produce results, a report by the US State Accountability Office on US efforts to combat al-Dahed said on Thursday.

“The confidential report, which was sent to Congress to investigate the failures of the military campaign and to assist the Iraqi forces, contained a plan outlined in the budget documents, including the training of nine Iraqi and three Kurdish teams providing each battalion with 5200 pieces An individual weapon in addition to weapons and vehicles used by associates. ”

“As of July 2016, the teams trained at only 60 per cent of their planned strength” attributed the failure to “problems of recruitment, retention and evasion of military service,” the report quoted the report as saying.
