On Saturday, Muqtada Al-Sadr warned the Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi and issued a deadline of 45 days to implement reforms and fulfill his promise; otherwise he will withdraw his confidence from the government of current Iraqi Prime Minister.
Al-Sadr delivered his words in Najaf and said that reforms is in the best interest of Iraqi people and it should be implemented as he promised earlier, so he must implement reforms program. But, if the Iraqi Prime Minister fails to fulfill his promise then we have only a single option as the withdrawal of confidence from Al-Abadi’s government from Iraqi Parliament.
Al-Sadr stressed that Iraqi government should disclose those elements that are responsible for the fall of Mosul city and for giving the control of Mosul in the hands of Daash and Islamic States militants. He said that hundreds of Sadrist movement supporters were gathered in Tahrir Square, Baghdad to support the announced the reforms packages. He also demanded the Iraqi Prime Minister for the implementation of those reforms as he promised earlier. A large number of leaders from political blocs, MPs, Ministers and members of political blocs participated in a meeting arranged by Al-Sadr. It is important that Al-Sadr heads the Iraqi Liberal bloc and this political bloc has 34 seats in the Iraqi Parliament and considered one of the major political blocs in the Iraqi Parliament. The Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi announced reforms package six months ago, but he has not yet fulfilled his promise to implement those reforms.
